Yoho National Park in the Canadian Rockies

Yoho National Park is the smallest of the four Canadian national parks encompassing this part of the Rocky Mountains. While it may not be as big as Jasper, or Banff, there is still much to see.

Yoho National Park - Awe Inspiring

The name Yoho comes from a Cree word meaning "Awe." And truly, once you get a look at the gems that are Lake O'Hara, Emerald Lake, Takkakkaw Falls and the numerous Hoodoos you'll agree that this is one of the most awe inspiring places in the world.

The town of Field serves as a departure point for trips into the backcountry of Yoho, and visitors here can be sure of an amazing trip. Activites such as camping and hiking are the best ways to experience the park in it's wild state, however there are plenty of beautiful sites for the casual day-tripper. Don't miss the engineering marvel that is the Spiral Tunnels.

Some sites (to name a very few) include the Burgess Shale Word Heritage Site containing 500 million-year-old fossils at the top of the mountains (accessible with a strenuous day hike), Twin Falls, and more.

The visitors centre in the town of Field is an excellent place to stop and find out about what the park has to offer and is also recommended to learn about any trail closure or other warnings before venturing further into Yoho's back-country.
